Villa and Apartment Kitchen Chimney Cleaning: A Guide for UAE Homes

In many UAE homes the kitchen hood is called a chimney. Whatever you call it, it collects grease every day, especially in kitchens that fry and cook with a lot of oil and spices. Left alone, it gets noisy, smells, and stops pulling smoke away from the stove.

What you can clean yourself

• The outside of the hood: wipe it with a mild degreaser and a soft cloth
• The carbon filter, if your hood recirculates: replace it on the maker's schedule

What needs a professional deep clean

Inside the hood, grease builds up on the fan blades, the motor housing and the inner panels, and inside the duct if the hood vents outside. Reaching those parts means taking the hood apart safely. A deep clean removes the hidden grease, which usually brings back suction and reduces noise and smell.

• Filters: about monthly, more if you fry often
• Deep clean of the hood and fan: every 6 to 12 months for most homes, sooner for heavy daily cooking
